Daily Benefits of God: Recognizing the Blessings We Overlook Every Day.

I woke up this morning and thoughts flooded my mind. I began to reflect deeply on the goodness of God and the countless blessings He gives us every single day. As I thought about it, I realized how easy it is to overlook these blessings simply because they are consistent. Many times, what happens daily loses its value in our eyes, not because it is small, but because it is familiar, which is why building a personal relationship with God helps us stay mindful and grateful for His daily goodness.

If you are like me, you may be trusting God for some big things that have not yet happened. Maybe you are believing Him for a spouse, new accommodation, a car, a visa, or a major breakthrough. These are valid desires, and it is natural to long for them. But in the process of waiting, we often shift our entire focus to what has not yet happened.

Because of that, we begin to overlook the most important blessings God gives us daily. The Bible clearly tells us that God loads us with benefits every day. Psalm 68:19 (NKJV) says, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! Selah.” This means that every single day carries something from God, whether we notice it or not.

Yet sometimes, when we read that verse, we look at our current situation and wonder how true it really is. You might think, “What blessing? I cannot pay my rent. I have not paid my children’s school fees. There are needs everywhere.” In moments like that, it can feel like the Scripture does not match your reality, but this is where we begin to see the benefits of a personal relationship with God.

But here is what I came to realize. We focus so much on the big things we can actually live without, and we ignore the daily blessings we cannot survive without. The things we complain about not having are often not as essential as the things we fail to acknowledge.

Within the week, I woke up one morning and discovered I had lost my voice. Everything felt normal until I tried to speak. When I opened my mouth, I could barely push out a sound. I had to put in unusual effort just to produce a little noise that people could hear. What seemed ordinary before suddenly became a serious limitation.

For three days, I struggled with it. I could not communicate properly, and it affected me more than I expected. I suspected the cough I had earlier in the week had caused mucus to block my throat. I tried different remedies, hoping to regain my voice. It took about three days before I could finally speak freely again.

That experience opened my eyes. I realized how rarely we thank God for something as simple as the ability to talk. We wake up every day and speak freely. We can shout, sing, express ourselves—and we call it normal. But it is not normal. It is a blessing.

There are many other blessings we treat the same way. Being able to use the restroom freely is a blessing. Waking up each day is a blessing. Standing on your two legs without pain is a blessing. These are things we assume will always be there, so we rarely acknowledge them.

Imagine waking up and suddenly you cannot see or hear anymore. Think about how drastically your world would change in that moment. Yet right now, you can see, you can hear, you can walk, and you can breathe. These are not small things. They are daily miracles that sustain your life.

The truth is, we often do not understand the value of these blessings until they are threatened. If your job depends on your voice and you suddenly lose it, everything changes. If it depends on your sight and that is taken away, your reality shifts instantly. What we call “normal” is actually priceless, and it is in moments like this that we are drawn back to the secret place.

I know someone who was not very grateful because of the big breakthroughs she was expecting. One day, someone close to her broke a leg and was taken to an orthopedic hospital. When she saw how much money was spent treating that injury, she said something powerful: “I never knew I was this rich.”

Sometimes, you do not know how wealthy you are until you calculate what it would cost to fix what is currently working for free in your body. Your health, your senses, your ability to function—these are riches we rarely count because we did not pay for them. Yet they are invaluable.

Recently, while I was in church, the pastor raised a song, and suddenly tears began to roll down my eyes. I started counting the blessings God has given me that I rarely acknowledge. I thought about my voice, my eyes, my ears, my legs, my hands, my nose, and even my digestive system—all functioning consistently for years without payment.

And yet, sometimes I feel I need one big breakthrough before I can truly be grateful. That realization humbled me deeply. It made me see how much I had overlooked simply because I was focused on what had not yet happened.

I also remembered what happened to my mother. She had severe heart issues, and whenever the pain came, she could do nothing but lie down and groan in agony. It was a difficult time for us because we did not fully understand what was happening.

One day, the pain started when my younger brother was around, and he prayed for her. Later, when I traveled home and she experienced the pain again, we prayed once more. After some time, we decided she should go for a medical checkup to understand the situation properly, and through it all, we were reminded of the importance of having a personal relationship with God, where faith, prayer, and wisdom work together in every situation.

What the doctor said surprised all of us. He explained that there had been an injury in her heart, but it had healed. She only needed medication to help regulate her breathing. It was nothing short of a miracle.

Later, I shared the story with another doctor, and the response stayed with me. The doctor said, “You people don’t know what God has done for you.” She explained that treating such a condition could have cost millions of naira. But God, in His mercy, stepped in and healed her without that burden.

That moment deepened my gratitude. It reminded me that God is constantly working in ways we do not see. Many times, He solves problems we never even fully understand. He preserves us quietly, without announcement.

You may be waiting for something big right now. But hear this clearly: the same God who has preserved your breath will perfect everything that concerns you. The God who has kept your heart beating without your permission, who has sustained your lungs while you slept, and who has protected you from dangers you never saw is not confused about your future.

If He has sustained the “small” things in your life daily, then He is more than able to handle the “big” things you are praying for. Psalm 68:19 reminds us again that He daily loads us with benefits. That means there is a daily supply, daily mercy, daily preservation, and daily grace over your life.

Your breakthrough is not delayed because God has forgotten you. Your season is not stagnant because God is powerless. The same God who has kept your body functioning for years without a maintenance fee is working behind the scenes in ways you cannot yet see.

So before the car comes, before the visa is approved, before the marriage happens, and before the financial shift, lift your voice and thank Him for what is already working. Gratitude is not just a response—it is a position that aligns your heart with God.

As you begin to thank Him for daily benefits, may you step into visible blessings. May preservation turn into promotion. May maintenance turn into manifestation. May the things God has been sustaining quietly begin to speak loudly in your life.

In Jesus’ name.

If this blessed you, pause for a moment and simply say:

Thank You, Jesus.
