You Have Power Over Demons and the Devil: Understanding Your Authority in Christ

Allow me to take you down memory lane for a moment to help you understand what it truly means when the Bible says your body is the temple of the living God.

A temple simply means a house. This means your body is the house of God. God lives in you. He no longer lives in buildings made by human hands; He lives inside you, and when you understand your authority in Christ, you recognize the power and dominion you carry as His temple, able to speak, act, and live in alignment with His will.

Now think about this carefully.

Assume you own a house and the president of your country comes to live in that house. If a policeman suddenly arrives to arrest you, what do you think will happen?

You already know the answer. That policeman cannot arrest you for any offense without the president’s approval. The president must give permission. And if the president is pleased with you, the arrest will not happen—period.

Now see God as the President of the whole world, and see demons and the devil as policemen. The Bible says God—the President of the universe—lives in you. Do you think demons can just do whatever they like or oppress your body while God is present? No. Don't wait for God to do what he has given you power to do.

If demons are able to oppress a body that God lives in, it is because permission was given.

Child of God, if you are a Christian, God lives in you. Therefore, put a “Touch Not” sign on your body and everything that belongs to you, and demons will stay away.

There was a time when I used to go to church every day to pray. This was back home in my village. Each time I finished praying, demons would come and oppress my body.

Deep inside me, I knew they could not truly harm me because God lives in me, yet the oppression continued. Sometimes I saw them appear as normal human beings, but in the spirit, I knew they were not ordinary.

One day, I became tired of the oppression and decided to stop it. I prayed and declared—before God and the devil—that my body is the temple of the living God, and demons no longer have the right to oppress it.

In the spirit, I knew my prayer was answered. Then I slept.

Shortly after lying down, I saw the same demon come again to oppress me. This time, I paid it no attention because I knew a “Touch Not” sign had already been placed on my body. It moved around me and realized it could do nothing. If you dont know your kingdom right, fear will dominate your life.

Then it tried another tactic.

It began speaking a demonic language, hoping that if it could manipulate me into speaking the same language, it would regain access. I was lying there, fully aware in the spirit, watching everything, yet ignoring it because I knew its power had been limited.

Suddenly, I noticed that I had started speaking the demonic language, and it tried to oppress me again. Immediately, I rose up and stopped it.

All these happened in the spirit. It looked as though I was asleep, yet I was fully conscious.

Child of God, you have the power to stop demonic activities around your life. Whether you choose to use that power or not is what makes the difference, reminding you to stand up to your bully—whether spiritual or physical—because God has equipped you with authority, strength, and courage to confront and overcome every form of oppression.

You may not be able to control what happens in another person’s life, but you can always exercise authority over your own life.

Is there something demons are doing around you today? Stand up in faith and stop it.

If they oppress you in your sleep, as they once did to me, or if they make unnecessary disturbances in your house—stand up today and stop them. You have the power, if you are born again.

The devil has no right to touch anything that belongs to you unless you permit it.

Your children, your home, your spouse, your possessions—name them. You have the authority to put a “Touch Not” sign on them, and demons will stay away.

When dealing with demonic activities, do not keep asking God to come and handle it for you. God has already given you the authority to put them where they belong.

Stand up and pass a decree. Speak directly to demons and the devil. Tell them exactly what to do, and they will obey.

Many Christians quote, “Oh God, arise and let Your enemies be scattered.” But the truth is, God has already given you the power. You are the one that needs to arise now and declare what you want.

God will not do what He has already empowered you to do.

Use your authority, brothers and sisters.
