Healing is real, and you can be healed by the power of God without drugs. I once shared this experience with a Muslim man, and he said it was a coincidence. I replied that if a coincidence happens more than seven times, then it is a coincidence I gladly accept, demonstrating how faith and obedience release God’s miraculous power—when we trust God and act according to His instructions, His supernatural intervention becomes evident in our lives.
I want to share a short story about how God miraculously healed me as a child. I have shared this story with many people before, and I am sharing it again in case you have not heard it. The reason for sharing this is to let you know that Jesus’ death on the cross was never in vain. He died to set us free from sin and sickness. Many Christians easily believe that Jesus died to save us from sin but find it difficult to believe that the same sacrifice also took care of sickness. To many believers, it seems impossible to live year after year in good health without drugs.
I will be sharing my experiences to show that it is possible to be healed without drugs and to live in divine health.
I come from what can be described as a very diabolical family background. Traditionally, whenever a child was born in our family, the child had to be presented to an idol before being allowed to live. If the child was not presented and any metal object was used to cut the child’s hair or nails, the child would die. I believe this practice is changing now because more people are beginning to believe the gospel.
You should know as Child of God that healing a bread God has provided for you.
My parents’ first child was presented to the idol, as was the custom. However, before I was born, my parents became born again. Those who became born again in the 1970s and 1980s were often very fervent in their faith. Many of them believed strongly in divine healing, and some even believed that taking drugs for healing was a sin. This may sound strange today, but it was the reality then.
When my parents had me, they refused to present me to the idol because they now believed that life belongs to God and not to an idol. When the time came to cut my nails, the problem began. I believe that if idols have any power at all, it is because people give them that power. The idol of the family rose up against my life, and I became terribly sick. Weeks passed, and I could neither eat nor drink. My life was hanging between life and death, showing how the Devil steals your healing when spiritual attacks are allowed to take hold—but God’s intervention can restore what was almost lost.
Hear this, child of God: the devil can never win the battle over your life unless you permit him.
My parents refused to take me to the hospital because of their strong belief in divine healing. They said that if God could not save me, then I should die. The battle line was clearly drawn between heaven and hell.
My late father’s elder brother, who understood the traditional cause of the sickness, said he would secretly take me to the idol so that I could live. My father warned him sternly never to try such a thing. Out of fear, he backed off and left me alone.
The battle continued. Everyone in the compound was alarmed. People complained that my parents were doing nothing while their child was dying, but none of their words moved my parents an inch.
One day, God stepped in. Our pastor came to visit. God bless pastors who take time to visit their members in moments of trouble. That day was a Tuesday, which was Bible study day. The pastor asked my parents to bring me to church that evening.
At the church, the pastor stood before the congregation and asked what they wanted God to do for this child. They all answered that they wanted God to heal me. There is great power in communal prayer. The pastor then asked everyone to stand and pray specifically for my healing, and they prayed fervently.
That same day, we returned home, and from that moment I began to drink water and eat food again. That was how God miraculously healed me. It was a contest between heaven and hell, and as the Bible says, the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. Hell failed.
Permit me to share one more experience. I once attended a Bible study where someone said that a pastor had advised that certain problems Christians face require them to go back to the village and offer sacrifices. I was boiling within me because I knew that there is no other sacrifice left to offer. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is more than enough. I do not care what you are going through right now—if you remain on the side of Jesus, you will always win.
The word of God has power to heal, that is why we must rely on His word.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
—John 16:33 (KJV)
“I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave! I have defeated the world.”
—John 16:33 (GNT)
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have perfect peace and confidence… Be of good cheer! I have overcome the world and deprived it of power to harm you.”
—John 16:33 (AMPC)
Fear not.
You belong to the kingdom that cannot be defeated.
